ABCs OF SECONDHAND SMOKE

Another regional initiative is our ABCS of Secondhand Smoke Program. Funded by the Missouri Foundation for Health, this prevention initiative works in 13 Head Start Centers in Douglas, Howell, Shannon, Texas, and Wright counties to raise awareness among parents and children of the dangers of secondhand smoke, while encouraging parents to reduce or cease their smoking habit.

 

Community & Capacity Building

At the heart of the Partnership is the belief that facilitating positive change, while building the capacity of organizations, agencies and individuals, will lead to long-term measurable outcomes. Community and capacity building is about using ideas and resources in new ways to strengthen communities and the residents that live there. As good stewards of our ever shrinking federal, state and local resources, we recognize that community and capacity building is not a luxury, but a necessity.

Too many are not ready to enter school and fail once they enter, are physically unfit, engage in negative behaviors, or are a victim of abuse and neglect. We must do more!
