The C.A.S.H program has 3 types of classes to offer...

Make Money Work for YOU!!!

This FREE four-week interactive program examines personal money beliefs and how those can help or hinder you in reaching your financial goals. This program will help you find areas that you can save, help you create a workable budget, and during the class each participant will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a local banker.

  • Free Dinner & Free Childcare!
  • Develop a budget that works for you!
  • Opportunity to open a $0 balance Savings Account with the potential to earn a $100 match from Caring Communities!
  • Classes are held monthly. Registration Required.

C.A.S.H. Track Classes

These are one or two-week classes that are facilitated by experts in that particular field and have been designed with the help of former participants. Currently, we hold one track class per month. Here are a few examples of track classes we have offered.

  • How to Read Your Credit Report
Participants will learn how to read a credit report, contact creditors to make changes if necessary and improve their credit score. They will learn how they can utilize their credit report to protect themselves against fraud and to reach financial goals.
  • How to Protect Yourself from Being Scammed
Participants will learn how to protect themselves from identity theft and from being the victim of predatory lending. This class is taught by the Better Business Bureau of Springfield, Missouri.
  • Realizing the American Dream
This pre-purchase homebuyer education track will illustrate how to know if participants are ready to buy a home, how to shop for a mortgage lender and a loan, and how to pick a realtor, attorney, title insurance company, home inspector, and property appraiser.
  • Keeping the American Dream
Once you’ve bought your home, how do you keep it? This post-purchase track will help participants understand how to be a good neighbor, how to budget for unexpected homeownership expenses such as a roof or heating/cooling unit, and how to maintain and improve a home cost effectively.

C.A.S.H. Savings Club

The C.A.S.H. Savings Club is exclusive to past participants of the Make Money Work For You class. The Savings Club meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Pathways United Methodist Church (1232 E. Dale St., Springfield, MO 65802) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Savings Club provides additional support for our past participants and is peer lead. Each month one of our banking partners will come as a guest speaker and will speak for 15-20 minutes about topics that the Savings Club members have requested. Free dinner and childcare (up to age 12) are provided with registration.
