Education Collaborative

The mission of the Education Collaborative is: "Working side by side agencies, parents, public and private schools and universities, the Education Collaborative will work to help ensure that youth succeed in school and are ready to enter productive adulthood."

When faced with a growing number of aggressive young children in the school system, this group spearheaded a grant to address this issue; and, in 2006, Missouri State University (a member of the Education Collaborative) received a grant from CFO called ECHO which provides family-based assistance to families struggling to cope with the effects of aggressive young children.

The education community has also witnessed amazing growth in the number of non-English speaking students. While this offers an incredible opportunity to enrich the cultural diversity of our school systems, it also presents new challenges to the teaching professionals welcoming students from different countries. The Education Collaborative recognized this challenge and, just a short time after partnering with the Springfield Public Schools, was able to develop a pre-school ESL classroom at the Robberson Elementary Wonder Years Program.
