Community Wide Play Day
PLAY DAY 2010 HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 26TH! CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.

Community Partnership's Early Childhood Department, along with several community agencies devoted to children and families, host "Community Wide Play Day" each spring on the last Saturday in April in a Springfield city park. The goal of Community Wide Play Day is to provide a positive, interactive, voluntary, FREE opportunity for children and families to interact and learn through play. Each year the event draws more than 2,000 children and their families.

Children have played at all times throughout history and in all cultures. Play, along with the basic needs of nutrition, health, shelter, and education, are vital to develop the potential in all children. The activities available at Play Day allow children to stretch their muscles and minds while they explore creative expression. Their parents receive inexpensive or free play ideas to do at home, which encourage healthy brain development in their growing children. In addition, each child who attends Play Day receives a free book.
