COMMUNITY WIDE PLAY DAY
Community Partnership's Early Childhood Department, and several agencies devoted to children and families, host "Community Wide Play Day" each spring in a Springfield city park. The goal of Community Wide Play Day is to provide a positive, interactive, voluntary, FREE opportunity for children and families to interact and learn through play. Last year's event drew more than 2,000 children and their families. This year promises to be an even bigger event.
Children have played at all times throughout history and in all cultures. Play, along with the basic needs of nutrition, health, shelter, and education, are vital to develop the potential in all children. The activities available at Play Day allow children to stretch their muscles and minds while they explore creative expression. Their parents receive inexpensive or free play ideas to do at home which, encourage healthy brain development in their growing children.
