Parent Resources
U. S. Department of Education research shows that families have a significant influence on a child’s achievement in school. And the influence of a parent can have an impact on a child through the rest of his life. Schools will educate your child, but you also have a say. When schools, community groups, and families work together, children do better in school, stay in school longer, and they even like school more. Your positive input will affect a child’s education.
Regardless of income or background, students with involved parents are more likely to:
- Make good grades and score high on tests.
- Enroll in higher-level programs.
- Be promoted to the next grade.
- Attend school on a consistent basis.
- Graduate high school and go on to college or another post high school education program.
No Child Left Behind includes parental involvement as one of its central points. We encourage you to be active in your child’s education, both at school and at home.
