After-school clubs and programs are designed as a strategy to keep kids safe and drug-free, encourage daily attendance, and improve academic achievement and self-esteem. After-school clubs and programs can focus on a variety of topics or areas, including reading, writing, art and cooking, dance and sports, fellowship, academics and leadership.
We also provide education and mentoring through our middle school girls’ group and through our Peer-to-Peer Drug Prevention Program. Our girls’ group focuses on self-esteem and empowerment through activities, discussion and mentoring to girls in grade 6-8. Our Drug Prevention Program connects 5th graders to students in their feeder middle school by bringing the groups together each month to learn about the risks of substance abuse. The middle school students develop the curriculum each month and then teach the 5th graders that information using interactive activities and discussions.
