National Night Out is an annual event focused on safety and crime prevention. National Night Out gives residents a chance to meet in the park, get to know each other and their local law enforcement, fire department and other organizations that work to keep Springfield healthy and safe. The event gives families a chance to tour police, fire and safety vehicles, browse safety info booths, and eat free hot dogs and ice cream. There are also games, informational booths, and a prescription drug take-back. Meador Pool will be open, and guests may donate one canned good for pool admission during National Night Out. This event is sponsored by Community Partnership of the Ozarks, the Springfield Police Department, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and the City of Springfield.
Following National Night Out is Neighborhood Night Out, which takes place in individual neighborhoods, allowing residents to hold block parties that also promote safe and healthy neighborhoods. Dates for these will be posted soon.
