Our community-based social workers connect families to community resources, facilitate student groups, collaborate with school staff to address the needs of at-risk students, and provide support to families in time of crisis.
Our social workers not only work with the families and children in a school-based setting. They also provide neighborhood-based activities and assistance through programs and events such as back-to-school and community outreach events, food pantries and food distributions, and the organization and development of community partners.
We also recruit and help support the Lunch Buddies mentoring program within our schools. The Lunch Buddies program pairs students with a caring adult who eats lunch with them at school one time per week. The goal of the program is to help increase the student’s self-esteem and to foster a caring, nurturing relationship with their adult “buddy.”
